Need Help Removing Ignition Cylinder

From a 1966 Mustang. The back of the switch broke off so i need to change the whole assy. I read the you turn the switch with the key to acc and insert paper clip and turn back to off and it should pop out. Will i have tried this a 100 times and it still will not come out. I can feel the spring compress as i insert the pin in the hole. Any ideas. I in the middle of changing the dash wiring harness out and hope to make a car show this weekend. This is my brother's Mustang.

Thanks

Steve

That only makes it possible to remove the actual switch. You need to yank out the bezell too then? It is usually held in via a spring arrangement from the rear.

How To Remove a Mustang Ignition Switch : Average Joe Restoration
To remove the ignition cylinder from the assembly you will need the ignition key and a large paper clip. Bend one end of the paper clip straight, put the key in the ignition, turn the ignition switch to the accessory position, insert the paper clip into the small hole, push inward and then turn the ignition switch again counter clock wise and pull out the cylinder.

Worked for me, took a feew tries and yes it can get frustrating the first few times you do it.

Re: Need Help Removing Ignition Cylinder

Ok we got it out. Had to step up the little hole a tad and got it to come out. Thanks for all the inputs.
