fan options for a 69 with a 20 inch radiator

Looking for fan options for my project 69 Mustang with original 302. I have a 20 inch Champion aluminum radiator (MC340). I only have about 3.5 inches between the radiator and the water pump pulley. I had to send the nice polished aluminum fan shroud and electric fan back because the fan hit the pulley. What are you folks with similar setups using for fans and shrouds? I've heard of people using Taurus and Lincoln fans, but I think they may be too thick. I can always go back to a mechanical fan (already did a test fit and it will still work,) but would rather not loose the horsepower.

I have a 100 amp 1 wire alternator, a Flow Cooler aluminum water pump, and a Milodon 160 degree thermostat.

I live in Western WA, so it is normally cool, but during JUL and AUG, the times when it does get into the high 80s, 90s, and occasional over 100, is when it would get driven the most.

Re: fan options for a 69 with a 20 inch radiator

I have a 70 Mach1 with a 351C and a Griffin 3 row aluminum radiator. I used the twin electric fans with shroud made by Old Air Products. I only have about 1" between pump pulley and fan setup but because it's a dual fan the actual fans set to each side of pump pulley. I run a edelbrach high flow aluminum water pump with a 185 t-stat. The passenger fan runs off ignition switch then I have the drivers fan set to come on at 185 degrees. Even with A/C on and missouri's 90+ with humidity it never has reached 200 degrees yet. I also liked that it bolts to existing location rather than those zip ties that go thru the radiator.

I was thinking dual fan because it would straddle the pulley. How much was this?

I believe old air products like others resells maradyne fans. I have the same fan setup in my 70 Mach 1. Excellent setup it is a bit on the loud side. The adjustable thermostat is great. I bought mine from Maradyne Performance Parts. Take a look at Welcome to Maradyne also. Dual fan $255 P/N MM22KS, adj. Tstat $59 P/N MFA100. Looks like OAP is a bit less expensive. Alan
