2000 GT oil leak

I'm new to mustang, just got my 2000 GT convertible late last year. Clean inside and out except an oil leak. I already checked the lower housing inspection plug and not there. Talked to friend mechanic and mention about the transmission fluid level, I saw its above the level of the pan. Already ordered filter and o-ring as well as pan gasket then will fill new oil and hope that fix. What else do I need to check?
