aftermarket shifters for the 5 speed

Anyone out there have any installed shifters on there 05-06 GT? I get nmine in 5 days and buying up some goodies for it. I was looking at the 5.0 shifter. There are so many out there, just wanted a heads up.

Thanks,

Mario

aftermarket shifters for the 5 speed

I think mine got built today- hasnt updated yet to know for sure...anyways, talking to other 05/06 gt owners, heard often how powershifting into 3rd is nearly impossible with stock shifter- guess gate from 3/5 is very narrow...One guy that has ran his stock at the dragstrip put a steeda shifter in his and told me it was 100% improved...slam third without worry...I just want mine to get here...no 'improvements' planned just yet- just wayyy too eager to start racking up some miles on it.

PS: if you havent been on blueovalforums.com go there. in 'ford employees' look at 2006 mustang order info, and post your vin- guy at the factory is tracking build info for people...has helped me keep a shred of sanity the last couple months. Also, go to ford.com and you can request a brochure- comes printed up with your name on it...kinda cool stuff to put in the cars file...

I installed a Hurst shifter in my 08 GT and love it.

Re: aftermarket shifters for the 5 speed

Wow, dead thread returns... That mustang I was waiting on about owned me...luckily the car hauler dude smashed it unloading it, I couldn't even get a test drive...reordered without as much obsessing over it, best car I ever owned... 6 yrs later still a blast to drive, as much as the first time I got the keys. Ford did a great job on these cars.

On the shifter topic, I put a 09 gt take off shifter in my 06, way,way better than the flimsy 06 version, haven't missed third since.

The tranny in thes cars do NOT like redline shifting...burned my 2nd gear synchro second time at the track. Royal purple synchro max 'fixed' it! I put up with a balky 2nd for over 6 months, tried the RP, within a half hour was better than new, another couple dozen runs down the track, I can still redline shift 2 nd and 3rd fine... But my clutch is getting a little on the chattery side
Cannot strongly enough recommend royal purple synchro max for anyone with this transmission. I have heard similar ' night and day' difference stories about a couple other synthetics too, but personally never tried them.
