New BOSS 351 block from Ford!

Big brother to the latest BOSS 302 block...
2009 Ford Racing Media Invitational - Stang TV Forums
Scroll down - right past the new Ford Pro Stock engine picks.
This was a surprise for me, hadn't heard any rumors as to its existence.

Re: New BOSS 351 block from Ford!

Its just a worked over W block. Nothing special.

When they come out with a new Cleveland block I'll be impressed. Or better yet a beefed up 400 block.

However the pro stock engine stuff looks really intresting. Wish they would release some of that stuff for street use.

Exactly. I'm sick of them slapping the Boss name on everything.

Imagine the potential of a big bore 400 block.

4.185 bore x 4.75 stroke for 526ci of smallblock Cleveland terror.

I was all excited about a new Boss 351 block an then they show a picture of a Wheezer . Ford is getting rediculous about triing to get our attention naming things after things that were good in the past .

After seeing Tods block that ford block may as well have a bow tie on it .

What is a wheezer? Is it a same kind of block as the Dart SHP?

They're making note that it's a Windsor, not a Cleveland like the original Boss 351 block is all. Stock Windsor style cylinder heads (289/302/351) are worthless for breathing...so it's a pun/play on words all at once =D.

Basically all this motor is is an oversized new style Boss 302 block.

Still wonder about the bore skirts though.

It's been brought up several times that the main web area was not reinforced like the XE blocks. It's a weak area on Clevelands but Tod refuses to address it. I fear the iron block will be no stronger than a stock block and people will be blowing cranks out the bottom of the aluminum version. Splayed caps and a 9.5" deck option should have been a no brainer, he's been working on it for over 3 years.

I was curious if you or anyone else on the forum have any updates on engine builds using the new Boss 351W blocks as I was considering using either one of them or a Dart block for a future 427 stroker build.
