Question 72 torino exhaust

Hi All, I am new to the forum so please forgive me if the isnt in the correct spot. Anyway, i have a 1972 torino and i would like to put a true dual exhaust on it to get that "muscle car sound". the only problem is that i cant find anyone who makes a system for my car. I know that many companies make an exhaust for a 1972 mustang, and mustangs and torinos are very similar, so could i use a mustang exhaust? Thanks

Re: 72 torino exhaust

Don't bother getting a kit.

I installed my own long tube headers and had my 2 1/2in exhaust system custom made for only $140. Granted I had also already purchased my mufflers and the pipes end with turndowns before the rear axle, but I bet you could have a full custom exhaust made for your car and installed for not much more that $250 or so.

Now if you add an H-pipe or expensive mufflers, that price can definitely go up...

Welcome to FM. Here's a link with video and a complete install on the same chassis as yours. Be sure to click on the sidebar videos, there's a real sound sample that IMO is a true musclecar sound.

Re: 72 torino exhaust

just joined. if you havent done your exhaust yet, think about this. My 72 torino is getting new exhaust right now. Dual 3" back to a 3 1/2" electric cutout directed out the driverside right infront of the rear tire. Then one large Magnaflow muffler to a single 4" tail pipe out the back. Cheaper then duals, loud when i want it to be and quiet when it needs to be. Oh, in all the years ive had this car, and i bought it new, I have never seen headers made for it. Maybe there is now, but i think most folks just modifiy Mustang headers to fit a Cleveland Torino

Hooker makes headers for the 351C 72 Cleveland. They just discontinued the series for the 351C 4 Speed model in Super Comp, but they make the regular Comp models.

1972 Gran Torino Sport - "Q" code 4 speed. Factory Pewter Metallic with White interior.
1996 Mustang GT - PI H/C/I, 4.10's, BC-Auto 4r70w, Circle-D 3800 Stall.

Re: 72 torino exhaust

Get a custom exhaust put on it. I just got this done from the manifolds all the way out the back, and had an X pipe with 2 1/2" tubeing and mufflers. It cost me $450.00 and the guy did a sweet job he even painted all the welds too. Thats the best price I got around here (Tampa FL). So considering were you live the price may vary a little.

Get some prices from different shops, and find out who does good exhaust work. Custom exhoust is the way to go............

Good luck!
