2011 Shelby GT350 - The Last One?
87 year old Carroll Shelby revealed in a Dallas News
interview that the 2011 Shelby GT350 may be the last year for the Shelby Mustang. Shelby American, headquartered in Las Vegas, has been cutting staff and trimming back its post-title automotive modification business while ramping up the parts sales. Shelby says that there isn't much money to be made anymore on modifying Mustangs and F150s, even with the close to $70k price-tag for some of the packages. The margins on selling Shelby branded aftermarket power parts is much greater, particularly because there isn't as much labor involved.
Rumor is only 500 or so of the 2011 Shelby GT350 cars will be produced over the next two or three years. The 2007 Shelby GT350 was the previous campaign, with over 5000 cars sold through 2010.
