More Qs about my stk. 351W engine

Does anyone have an idea what a 351W out of a 77 Granada has AFA the stk. camshaft and the comp. ratio? I am looking for specs. I may decide to do a mild cam on it when I pull it out before dropping it into my 78 car for my stage 1 setup. I need to know the lift specs. and duration and also what the comp. ratio would be for this engine. My friend knows a guy that may be selling a set of pedestal mount 1.72 roller rockers and I may pick them up if I know the cam Ill put in will allow me to run the rockers without fear of the valves hitting the pistons. I would upgrade the valvetrain too to handle the new mild cam. TIA

I cant tell you the specs but I can tell you they aint worth worrying about. Late 70's engines have way low compression and lame cams(and usually retarded timing gears). The heads are junk for any real performce builds and need serious work(porting, bigger valves, pro valve job). If you get the work done to heads and raise the compression up to at least 9.5 and use a decent cam....say a XE comp cam. Combine that with a set of long tube headers and a decent intake and 4 v carb you can have a strong running 351 vs the limp smog choked 351 they installed from the factory during that time period.

Reason I'm asking is that I'm getting a 4 bbl. carb from my friend free and I'm looking around for an intake right now. I'm debating whether to put a mild cam in this motor but not actually touching the heads for my stage 1 setup before I build my stage 2 engine for "project sleeper". I have the headers too and will be doing my exhaust for this motor which I'll reuse for my stage 2 motor and also my tranny is done and ready to go. If I don't do a cam would putting a new timing chain set in (not retarded) at least help the engine make some power over stk. with the stk. cam and my new intake and exhaust combo?

For sure put in a 'different' cam. ANY aftermarket cam would be a HUGE improvement over the stock one.
Again, as long as you're yanking the intake and front cover, you're not going to get any 'closer' to it, (the cam), then then.
Depending on how 'radical' you go, and the miles on the motor, you may even be able to use the current valve springs. (in saying that, ALWAYS check clearances/specs).
A nice little rump, rump, burble, burble, rump rump at idle is always cool.
