Master Cylinder Question

I convereted to disk brakes and a dual master cylinder on my 66 Mustang and i have a problem. I cant get the rod out of the back of the single master cylinder to stick in the 69 Dual master cylinder. How do you get this out? Also, it uses braided steel brake hoses and we need to find a way to connect the 1/8 connector to a 5/16 hardline. Any ideas? Thanks

Master Cylinder Question

The rod is in the mc with a spring clip. You have to pull very hard to get it out. Sometimes the clip breaks on the way out.

You should be able to get an adapter for the lines at your parts store. My parts store has all its adapters in one bin. They have to look thru it one by one. They're not always happy to do the searching.

Master Cylinder Question

The rod will pop out with a good deal of force. I don't recommend this, but I took mine to the vice, put a large bolt through the eye of the pedal connection portion of rod, rested it between the jaws and pounded on the old master cylinder reservior. It popped out (intact) after two or three swings. Make sure the rod is long enough that it won't drop out of your new one on pedal backswing, rod may be loose in new master cyl. Not sure, I think there is a bumper to keep the pedal from coming back too far.
