I am in the process of upgrading the bed trim on my 66 Ranchero, what is a good way to refurbish the stainless steel rails?
Thanks,
Kent

Not positive by what you mean to refurbish: But, fine steel wool does an amazingly good job on chrome & stainless trim that has grime / pits or any overspray on it. Make sure to test on a small inconspicous area first.

Don't listen to anyone who says steel wool will scratch. They need to try it before they knock it.

Stainless is not the same as chrome,Most stainless is 3030 ,and much softer than chrome The stainless can be worked up from ,(depending how bad it's scratched and how much work you want to do )100 grit, 150, 220 ,400,600 than buff with compound ,like rubbing compound ,next polishing compound last a good wax buff or finishing compound .change direction with each step and clean between each step.Don't go any courser than you need to ,each step doubles the work. There are a lot of polishing compounds for pro steel polishing that would make it faster but they are expensive . My family's busness for 50 years has been tool & die polishing .they polish a lot of s.s. and tool steel.Hope this helps

I'm with jeremyL. Buy a cloth wheel & some rouge for your bench grinder. You won't believe the results plus, you won't hurt it with a cloth wheel (unless you get some really coarse rouge. It also sounds like 4u2nv knows what he's talking about, but I have 1st hand knowledge with cloth wheels (Look at an Eastwood catalog - they have tons of high quality polishing tools.
