New Speedway forged rods--anyone used these?

I was looking through the new Speedway Motors catalog and found a full set of new, forged Ford Motorsports 302 rods advertised for $89! Frankly, it sounds too good to be true. Anyone have any experience with these rods?

I don't think you could even buy the new ARP bolts for a price like that. If I was building another 302, I'd go for 'em in a heartbeat!

When i talked to the guy about 4 years about the rods. When i ask for the motorsport part # on the rods.I remember that motorpsport had rods in there 90 or 91 catalog. He told me they arent motorsports rods.I cant recall what is said. but i think they are a 302 with arp bolts.

New Speedway forged rods--anyone used these?

I made a couple phone calls this morning. Here's what I found out:

- According to Speedway this is a Ford Motorsports rod, #M-6200-M50.

- The Ford Racing tech said that the #M-6200-M50 rods are their stock production 302 rods. I assume this means they use them in their crate engines that don't specifically call out the beefier "Sportsman" rods on the build sheet. The rod bolts are standard issue stockers that torque down to 18-22 ft lbs.

$89 is still a pretty good price, but once you add ARP or equivalent bolts and resizing it might make more sense to buy the new Scat rods that with ARP wavelocs and can be had for around $169.

Anyway, I hope this information is useful to someone.
