I received my SHINY new solid cam from Comp cams today... almost to nice to put in the block!!!!
Anyway, I fugure now is the time to make sure my distributer is up to snuff as I should install atleast a new gear with the cam.
I have been looking at MSD... but I am open to anything. Right now I am using a stock 302 dizzy with pertronix.
Considering my setup, any suggestions???

I had an excel and hated it ... it has ****y curves blew the module and they discontinued it and i could not get any parts went through a few dyno sesions and upgraded to an msd ... if i were going to get a new dist go with the d.u.i it is an awesome package with the coil you can run big point gaps it has plenty of spark for anything and it comes in race and street depending on use and budget plus it is nice and clean.
eveyrone who has it says it kicks ass
only reason i have an msd is a friend had one laying around after he went to the dui with his new build up.
I like my MSD billet distributor. Very reliable (so far), And easy to adjust the timing curve with the supplied springs. If you do decide to go with the MSD I would purchase it from Best Buy performance in Vancouver... Great service and they beat Mopac's price on just about everything .
Wow, With that new cam and if you upgrade your ignition you will definately be in the 11's next year at port.
Also, I have NOT forgotten about the port alberni racing footage that I have. I think that I will put it on a VHS tape and sent it out to you soon. I have been really busy with work lately, And my timing chain skipped a tooth in Port alberni while racing, So I have to find some time to fix it .
I like my billet Accel distributor, I mached it with their ignition box and it works great. Plus their stuff is not made in china like MSD. MSD stuff does work great too, we have one of their dizzies in our chevy truck.
I'm running a Duraspark with MSD 6AL box. MSD Billets were too tall so I tried the Crane Street/Strip programmables and finally gave up after 2 distributors and 1 return to Crane for repair. Luckily the local speed shop I deal with took it back without a fight.
The MSD is tall. I had to get rid of the straight monte carlo bar. Picked up one that is sold to clear the air cleaner for a webber set-up (need the one with the bend in the middle and not the one with the bend to one side which I think was to clear the old Paxton blower kits). I had forgot all about that.
