So my '62 Falcon only gets 8mpg or so. I put in 8 gallons, drove it to work a few times (I work about 2 miles from home) and now its empty. Its so bad I think I have a hole in my gas tank.
I'm assuming that the carb must be running really rich. But the engine runs well and makes good power. And I don't think a carb running that rich would make such a drastic difference in fuel consumption.
Some more info on the engine... best I can tell its a 200. The carb is a Carter of some kind, a YF I think. The engine has a little bit of an exhaust leak at the manifold. I recently installed Duraspark II, the plugs are gapped at .040. The timing is set at the highest point on the marker. The plugs look good, more like its running lean than rich. I haven't done a compression test yet.
Anyhow, I'd appreciate some tuning tips. I'd like to get it running well soon and I'm sort of in a financial bind right now so theres no money for me to get a repair manual.
