Rough Idle question?

I figured I would ask you guys since you all have helped me alot in the past. I have a 1994 Ford F150 4x4 302 automatic that idles rough when hot but seems to clear up when you give it some gas and doesn't hesitate and has good response. I have replaced plugs, plug wires, IAC valve, cap, button, and cleaned the air filter. Just wondering if any you guys have any idea of what else it could be? The truck does have 220,000 miles on it so far. It seems to idle real low while in park and when I shift it to drive it seems to idle up and run smoother in drive.

Re: Rough Idle question?

well i checked the throttle body and it was fairly clean to begin with. The egr valve I can see the diaphram moving up and down on it but it does fluctuate alot with the rough idle of the truck does that sound like my problem?

Re: Rough Idle question?

Yes, that is the problem.

The EGR valve is not supposed to open until you are on the road driving at normal speeds.

If it is opening soon then you have a component giving the EGR valve vacuum too soon and that part needs to be repaired or replaced.
