Help with Mallory unilite dizzy

Well I found my ignition wire tonight and it was reading 12 volts at the end so I guess the resistor wire is either burnt out or just not there, either way I had it hooked to the coil and distributor when I first tried cranking the car but it never fired up. At this point I think I may have turned the distributor into a rather nice looking piece of junk! Any pointers I can get on this would be greatly appreciated!!!

Also, I happen to have a 1.6 ohm resistor that I got from Summit that I can install but I'm not sure if it's overkill or not.

Re: Help with Mallory unilite dizzy

With the resistor wire disconnected from the coil it will always show battery voltage. It has to have a load placed on it to reduce the voltage.
