Machining pump face of stator support C4

Has anyone ever machined one?
I am putting together a c4 and while air testing the clutch packs sitting on top of the pump/stator support i had a pretty good leak around where the support sits in the pump body flange.I have run a fine file over it and all looks flat but it still bubbles around the outside while putting air the the hi/rev clutch drum.
I dont always check the clutches like this ,i generally put everything together and air test in the case. I think i will be from now on though...

Ok,now i've taken a real light cut from the stator support..Was pretty flat anyway..It is better but STILL LEAKS..
I have blued the 2 faces and looks like the pump body is out slightly..
Can this be machined to level it up and maybe face the pump gears to keep the correct clearance?..
I checked another older pump body and it too leaked slightly..I just cant bring myself to assemble this knowing it is leaking ,even though only very slight.
Maybe this is why PA are doing new pumps also...

I had never thought about leaks in that area and cannot say I have ever noticed.
Are you testing with this area dry, if so run some fluid thru to see if the fluid will help it seal.
If you cannot hear air leaking out of that area I would not worry about it.

There is actually a fair bit of bubbling around the flange with the air applied and some oil around the edge..
I'm not sure about machining the face on the pump body.

What about a little sealer like loctite around the ports between the 2 faces??? Opinions???

Thanks for making me paranoid about something I shouldn't be ...Greg Just kidding. I'm sure they all do that but I do believe a little sealer might be bad incase a tiny piece goes through and gets in the valve body since the pump is AFTER the filter. I think machining the pump fase would be fine as long as the gears are machined to match to maintain the proper clearance. I think you shouldn't worry about it though.

Its scary how fussy you get over time huh? Heres what to do if this concerns you. Clean the stator face with paint thinner or brake cleaner and spray a light coat of copper spray a gasket around the holes. See if that doesnt cure the bubbles.

Yes Jay,you're right, but the trouble is once you notice it you have to do something about it..I ended up using a real light wipe of loctite master gasket which is for metel to metal joints.I put on a wipe and put the faces together then took them apart to ensure none squeezed into the passages..Let it dry a while and all is good.

I checked the pump i have for my BB c4 and no bubbles so you got to be lucky sometimes.
