final questions C5 bulid
The C5 has only three drums listed in my parts book. They list a 4 clutch and a 5 clutch forward and a single drum for the direct clutch which is a 4 clutch drum. The C5 uses thick and thin pressure plates to fit less and more clutches. Your drums will be fine. For the HP of your engine you need to get a couple of the thin pressure plates and a selection of the top lock rings that come in different thicknesses. You will need the 1970 or later valve body from a C4 no matter what. You will need a converter, 157 tooth ring gear and flex plate and the small V8 bell housing. I would wait until I had it torn down to figure out what I needed. If you have alternate transportation that is always the best way to go. If not be sure that your parts source will take back what you don't need. Are you getting a master overhaul kit that has the clutches, steels and bands? or just a gasket kit and then ordering the other parts as needed?
