All Ford Car Show New Mexico
Yesterday our local Ford Dealer put on an All Ford car show. Despite the weather and another competing car show in an adjoining town there were about 70 cars. Farmington New Mexico is a city of about 50,000 and the county is about 125,000. There is a big street rod and car culture in this area of the 4 Corners USA. Our big car show of the year usually brings in around 200 to 250 cars and we have probably 15 shows in the region each year.
Nice to see an ALL FORD show, a man brought a really nice 53 or 54 Ford 2 door custom, turns out it has a Cheby engine, they politely asked him to leave.
This was the second year for the all Ford show which was free of charge to enter and they gave us t-shirts to boot.
I entered my old Fairlane and my new acquisition a 78 Fairmont Futura. the Fairmont is kind of a beater but is a decent driving 5.0 powered rust free (but not bondo free) car.
A couple of standouts for this show were a 69 Pro Touring F-100 with a 427 SOHC. the car was built locally by Jim Malone of Wild West Street Rods and is owned by Jack Nelson. The truck has been to a couple of GoodGuy events and Jack competed in the GoodGuys autocross. Impressive workmanship.
Super nice 1942 Lincoln with a mod motor, cool ghost flames. Won best of show last year.
In the rare category a local gentleman brought his 70 Mach 1 'Twister Special' of which there were only 96 built, he had the Marti report on the car. Twisters were exclusive to the Kansas City DSO region.
1970 Boss 429 locally owned. Bought in the mid 80's when they were cheap(er).
Fun little show where all we talked about was Fords.
Ps, I'm not a hater of other brands, just like my Fords.
1967 Fairlane 500 XL, Originally 289 4 Speed, now 331, TFS heads, Weber carbs, 4:11 nine inch, T-5.
1978 Fairmont Futura 5.0 AOD
1977 Maverick 4 door 302 C-4 future race car.
