How do you know it's running rich? Can you tell us more what's going on when it's running?

Yea sure the only way i can explain is the fumes, not straight gasoline fumes. but um... not all the gas was fired... fumes. lets see watery exaust, the plugs are wet and chard black. fuel mileage could be better.

the only way ive heard to fix this on my carb is to bend the float in the reserve. i figure theres a better way. dont know my carb type or number but its a 67 fairlane 289 2b motorcraft. just like the holleys of that year.

yeah...you've got a problem for sure. You need to find out what carb that is and rebuild it. If you don't want to do that then you can buy another carb from someone else. Those old 2bbl ford carbs aren't that hard to rebuild. You could swap out the intake for a 4bbl version and put a small Holley on it.

Yea thought about it, arent hollys always needing adjustment? if i do that it would be an edlebrock. the one where 2b run untill u stomp on the gass, then all 4 open up. cant remember the name of it. would that be a good choice?
