It FLORIDA so I am glad it has air conditioning, I have no idea if it works but all the parts are still there. The horn ring is in the back seat. The old owner says the horn ring fell off and that it hasn't worked for a while anyway.

My buddies say we can store our Ex wife's in here. There was a old spare on an original rim that goes with the car also.

When I got it home and removed the trunk mat, It seems it hides some problems. This is the passenger side by the rocker panel. The rear window seal leaks, and lets water into the trunk.

Under where the tire goes, there are a few rust holes. In the lower right of the photo, you can see where some one has applied some sort of silver tar based paint, to try and fix some of it at one time.

There are also some holes in this shot of the drivers side of the trunk, on the upper right hand side of the picture, on the left had side, you can see the holes in the rocker panel.
Its not real bad at this point however.

After wire bushing off the rust, and treating with the cleaner, and metal prep included in a Kit I purchased from Amazon, this it what the POR 15 rust paint looks like on the drivers side of the trunk.

The gas tank fill tube area was rusty and needed some attention. I used some of the left over POR15 on it after sanding it with some 100 grit.

It wouldn't start until I removed the old fuel pump, there seems to be a tag on it. I am guessing I might be able to find a kit for it if I look around.

this is the part I replaced the Fuel pump with

It would start and idle at this point. I could drive it around a little, but when the rpms got up, it would have a random miss. I tried to install new points in the original distributor, but it still ran bad. It seems there was to much play in the old bearings. I got a new distributor from AutoZone.

It runs much better after setting the timing and dwell. I have also installed three new belts, by the time this photo was shot.

With it running in a seeming safe manner we took off to enjoy some fine dinning at Burger King about two miles away. we got out of the car and we both went "Man it smells like Gas". We looked, and it was wet under the carburetor. Upon starting the car gas was pouring out the accelerator pump area. The Power valve was also stuck when we took it apart. I installed this carb kit, and now it doesn't smell like you are taking a shower in fuel.

Re: My new 1964 Fairlane toy

About a week later I drove to my sons house. After being parked in the road, I noticed a wet spot under the gas tank. Its time for a new tank. There is a crack in the bottom middle part of the tank, with a large scrape mark leading up to it. It would seem that somebody backed over something.
After buying a tank straps and a new fuel sender with a 3/8th output , I painted everything with black Por to stop any rusting. The 3/8 output required me to adapt to the 5/16 hard lines that run to the back of the car. I had this old filter in my shed and installed the correct hose ends to solve the problem. I had to cut about 5 inches of the hard line and bend it slightly to make it all work.

The painting of the new fuel tank removed all the grounds to the electrical system. To solve the problem I drilled a hole in the drivers side rear of the fuel tank, and ran a wire to the rear valiance area just under the bumper.
This hole in the rear valiance, and fuel tank

Re: My new 1964 Fairlane toy

All of this work let me drive it long enof to find out that it was over heating. I took the thermostat out, and ran it, it would still over heat. Time for a radiator. The radiator as it was delivered had to much material below the bottom mounting brackets. I had to cut about 1.5 inches of with my drimel to make it mount correctly.
This it the part new out of the box.

These are the pieces I cut off.

This is mounted in the car with out the cooler lines installed.

If you use two of these you can run the trans cooler lines.

And you get is look from the bottom up.

After driving it for a while, we noticed a random miss. I isolated it down to the old coil. When the coil gets hot there was a random miss. Lets remove this old thing.

I purchased a Petronix coil and points replacement unit from Powered
by Ford in Orlando for around 120 bucks. I got a pretty new black coil.

after a little touch up paint an installing the coil it looks like this
