Re: 1964 Falcon Power Steering Options
... I would look for a 65 power unit ,as the center link is a one piece part and is still being produced. The 65 is a direct fit on the 64 if you use all 65 parts. The 64 center link is a two part unit and is obsolete ,hard and expensive to get parts for...
Who ever told you they were still being produced doesn't know a thing about the subject! The power steering center link for the 65 Falcon/Comet equipped with the factory V8, was only produced one year. They are not being reproduced and they are extremely difficult to find. I sent mine to a guy in Texas for a control valve rebuild and he didn't repackage it properly. All I got back from him was an empty box. It took several months with both of us searching to locate another one. He also under-insured the part and lost $$$ on the job! This is a very rare part. The six cylinder unit isn't as robust as the V8 unit either, so if you recommend using it instead you are asking for trouble. The 65 Mustang and the 64 Falcon units have a different geometry and will not work on a 65 Falcon.
