Re: TTZephyr hits the track!

PSIG = yes I'm running high octane fuel

FATNFAST= already got a cage in it now

Hottarod= yes it has developed an oil leak at the rear main, I will be taking care of that when I add the new heads.

Re: TTZephyr hits the track!

Don't forget it's easy to get gasket and seal leaks with boost and the higher cylinder pressure if your breather system can't get the excess crankcase pressure out. A remote oil vapor separator (catch can) is the word of the day if you don't already have one, along with a positive-sealing PCV valve to prevent boost pressure from blowing into the crankcase. SuperCoupe PCV valves (Fram FV315) are an inexpensive example.

Re: TTZephyr hits the track!

Already got a turbo t-bird PCV valve on it now and am way ahead of you on upgrading the system via catch can etc.

we turbo thunderbird guys would install a one way check valve in the pcv line from a chrysler van brake booster when running more than factory boost. the pcv's would just leak almost regardless.

I so want to do this with my 65.

Re: TTZephyr hits the track!

I actually have done away with the PCV valve and just ran vents on both valve covers after having to switch to tall covers in order to clear the 1.7:1 rockers (no girdles) I have a few friends that have the same setup and this has worked well for them so I adapted it. Still working the bugs out of the new combo.

Re: TTZephyr hits the track!

PSIG = not that I can detect, still running good fuel and an MSD6BTM the thing about this outing was the car was running an average of 9.8:1 AFR during the pass!!

I'm betting a little less jet could have it in the 10s with no trouble, but now I want to hit the 125mph mark *sigh*.

Jetfixr320 & safexcrane = thx

Re: TTZephyr hits the track!

OK, I couldn't tell the smoke color in the video lighting. 9.8? Damn. You'll get 10's and 125+ pulling about 2.5 AFR out of it. If you're running good fuel, your BTM should not have much retard either. Maybe 3-4 near redline, if that. Read a couple plugs every run. Every run. The retard is most useful for avoiding det with pump gas, so if you have plenty of octane, you'll gain a lot right there as well as keeping the valves much cooler. Extra rich and retarded will cook your valves and seats, and can easily overheat your turbines. Also, open those plug gaps. It's good to run safe, but you're on the edge of too safe for the engine's good.

David

[EDIT] BTW - what's your shift RPM and what psi there?

Re: TTZephyr hits the track!

All passes thus far are all at 10 psi, stock cam, and stock 3.08 gears. Since the head swap I raised shift RPM from 5500 to 6000. oh yeah it in the 10s now as shown below....

I can never remember what way to post videos on each site! lol
