vBulletin is the software platform the forum runs on, almost all large forums on the internet run on vB.

I'm not saying I will stop coming here or stop supporting FordMuscleForums.com.. it's just I feel the website has taken a drastic step backwards from the layout the old website had.

For instance when you go to "Making Progress" you used to be able to see a picture of the persons car before even going to their Topic.

My biggest complaint is the layout of this forum VS the older layout. I strongly feel that we've lost the professional appeal of the website.
Well said.

I have been sort of quietly keeping my trap shut and rehash things others brought up...don't like to stir things up, but I really DO NOT care for the format now.
I know it's a petty thing, but one of the fun things about the Makin' Progress thread, was the ability to see everyone's ride. It feels a lot less personable. I'm a car guy. Sometimes, it's visual.
Much like a blonde and a red head walking down the street in a tank top and skirt...some times I'll look at the blonde, or I am going to stare at grandma's 1977 LTD rolling on the street.

Right now, I sort of feel like I am staring at the ass end of a street sweeper.

Okay I am getting what you guys are saying!

Its hard when all I get is things like "I Don't Like Change" and "This Sucks" telling me what is missing from what you had is what helps me get the right people to fix the problem. You are welcome to your criticisms but report them as what has been changed that needs to be fixed so I can get on it. Screencaps, links, lengthy descriptions all help.

Re: Ford Muscle Forums Changes

Right now, I can say the high contrast is bugging my eyes. This will limit my time that I can spend reading.

Beyond that, the sizing of the site to my window makes it hard to tell which row goes with which on my wide screen. I find myself sizing my window down and thats not an issue.

As far as navigation goes, the jury's still out. Like FE said, all the buttons seem to be there.

"I could order one, right? Sure, but then I wouldn’t need to make one."

Have you tried both skins? If its still way too bright I can mention it to creative. Calibrated monitors are usually pretty dark and most of the creative department works on calibrated monitors. One of the guys has a secondary one at his desk that is about the cheapest one you can get mostly just to get an idea of an average that can be met between the two. I can ask him to look at both and get his opinion on the contrast.

Seems like a 'Captain Obvious' answer, but... You could have just LEFT IT ALONE... and polled for what people would like to see changed... instead of resetting the complete site right off the bat.

Re: Ford Muscle Forums Changes

They had to change something about it because the original design belonged to Ford Muscle Magazine, and they sold the site but not the design.... At least that's what I THINK is the reason for some of it...

Thanks, direct and specific feedback always is workable, at least you can give an specific answer if not solution.
So, how about the Tech Articles - submissions, new ones, whats the plan and policy for those?

It went into a black, '66 shortbed-flareside truck..
NAPA black spray can on the rear..
The front/cab was a nice old repaint.
Used it for everything for 10-12 years and sold it to a Marine when I left
North Carolina..

Re: Ford Muscle Forums Changes

When you go to My Prefs, at the bottom of the menu on the left you can see all the pic attachments you ever made here, and the threads. Is this new? It is pretty nice.

Now how about this: I would like to shorten my handle to puttster. Can I do that without severing my history of postings?

Re: Ford Muscle Forums Changes

Phil, sorry for sounding like I was at the wheel doing 65mph, and just lost my left front tire...
Sometimes...change...difficult...knee jerk reaction.

I will tell you, the Hot Rod magazine forum changed from ok to horrendous software a few years back, and there was a en-mass exodus off their site.

The current forum is still not that good, but tolerable.

I will ask gently, can you at least repair the Makin' Progress threads?

I don't envy you job. But...could be worse. You could be an admin dealing with a bunch of chevy guys.

That is being worked on between FATNFAST and our resident walking automotive encyclopedia "Don". I will check in with Don today to see how this is coming along setting it back up as well as establishing the rewards for the articles.

Yes you can! Any of the Admins can do it for you its just a simple name change but it has to be done in the Admin control panel. Send me a PM to remind me what you want it changed to. Assuming the email attached to your account is current I will reply with an email to let you know its done. This way you know your login has changed. Your password and all the other info will remain the same unless you want that changed as well.

The manage attachments might be new, I know on any site that has it set up that way it takes a little to get used to but once you settle in its really helpful especially if you reference photos a lot.
