Exterior and interior questions for a 64 XL Fastback

How does one remove the side trim or the FORD from the trunk of a 64 Galaxie? Is there a special tool used? I looked at the trunk and noticed inside there is a lip that covers where I thought the threaded nuts or washers would be. My letter R is hanging on by one peg and I would like to secure the other. Any suggestions?

Where are refurbished panels made? Is this a custom thing to have done? all of my door panels and interior rear panels have degraded old red leather from the sun. I would like to replace it when I do the carpet.

My passenger door was hit prior to me buying my car and I would like to replace it since it is not seated straight and the button for the lock release does not work all the time. Is it a pain to remove and reattach a Galaxie door? How much could I epect to pay for a used one off of a parts car?

DesertDroog, you like Rev Horton Heat?

If your trunk letters mount the same as mine(I assume they do) you can't access them from the inside of the trunk,. You have to use a thin flathead and carefully pry them off. They have 2 pegs each on the back of each letter and they are pushed into holes with barrel clips. I got new letters off ebay for very cheap.

As far as the side trim, it is very difficult. I didn't even try it. When I had my car painted, I just taped over all of it.

As far as the door, I'd say $50 for a decent no dents door. Door panels are tough, nobody make reproductions that I know of. I was able to salvage most of mine. Good luck.

The side trim on a '64 isn't that hard to remove except on the front fenders, there are a couple places you can't get at easily.

The doors and quarter panels just have nuts on the back side that come off to remove the trim.

The FORD letters on the back should just pry out and push back in unless one of the posts is broke off. On my car my letters were trashed so I welded the holes closed.. it gives in a cleaner look

And I think I've got a good passenger door on my XL parts car, but it might be costly to ship it to you if you needed it.

Yeah, I really dig the Rev. in fact he is coming here in Feb with Tiger Army.

Thanks for the info, I will have to talk to a body shop that specializes in old cars to have them help me. I want to replace all my trim since there are all sorts of dents and crooked pieces on my beast. That door sounds like what I need, I will look into the shipping cost if I cannot find one in my neck of the woods.
