I've narrowed it down to a choice of two wheels for my '63 convertible. It will be either American Racing Salt Flat Specials (polished) or Torq Thrust IIs.
Here are a couple of crudely photoshopped pictures to look at.
Which would you choose? http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jpgoodmn/detail?.dir=c8d6&.dnm=ff8c.jpg&.src=ph
They almost look the same to me there but think I like the Salt Flats better. But then I like being different when I can and there is just too many of the T Thrusts out there. Are they going to be painted or polished? I like the polished of those also.
Torque Thusts for the classic look, can't go wrong with them.
Salf Flats look great, it's nice to see something different. The car looks very different with them, but I think it gives it a 'more full' look or a more solid stance. Dare to be different I say!
either wheel would be a good choice. but i'd go with the salt flat because i haven't seen any on a 63 galaxie. what size are you going with. which ever you choose, fill those wells with as much rubber as you can.
That name "Salt Flats" just has a ring to it. Maybe it's the thought of racing across the flats in the sunset. Driving off in the sunset, something anyway.
I want to run 17"s on my 67- And I've been looking at the salt flats pretty hard.... Although.. Popular hotrodding this month has a bright yellow 66 Fairlane in it with Wheel Vintiqes 17" Magnum 500's with the black parts painted silver- and a deeeep offset and WOW DO THEY LOOK GOOD. After seeing that, I'm now leaning toward those.
Another one to think about are the American Racing 200S rims... a classic design, don't see too many of em- and they have a 17" version too if that is your thing.
Thanks for all the replies. I'm leaning toward the Salt Flats at this point, but I'm sure that the TT2s would look good also.
I'll be running 16x7 with 215/60/16 in front and 16x8 with 235/60/16 in back. These are the same sizes that Phatfalcon has on his Starliner if you are familiar with it.
