Hey another progress thread! (1968)

yeah there are pics here and there of it, but hey. i thought its time for a progress thread.

its been a long hard brake job for the car. went to do the front brakes and bought all my parts ahead of time. turns out that everything they gave me was wrong. the Calipers looked like the only right parts. after returning things, and waiting two weeks for them to research, i had the right rotors, and wheel bearings.

brake hoses were non existant, and another week went by before i found out they werent made by anyone. Dearborn Classics makes then but they were on manufacturers backorder and $60 each for rubber hoses. ouch. i found a guy at school that happens to have a business making hoses. (high pressure, A/C, P/S etc....) and he made me some stainless braided ones.

so i got all that now, brake pads and other stuff. ARP wheel studs (3") and i assembled it today. well, i thought my banjo bolts are wrong, but they just needed to be cleaned and chased. that was after i took off for the day so that cost me more time.

in the meantime, this is the only brake job ive ever done thats taken 2 months.

Ive got my 17x9 Steelies on with 285/40 17 tires, and have my 17x7 fronts ready to go in a few days. they will have 235/50 17 (hey, i like my oddball sizes)

Virtually no progress has been made as far as bodywork, mainly because the car has been on stands for most of the brake job and i cant move it. heres pics i took today...

my stainless brake hoses... im gonna get the rear hose done too.

I love the way those 285's fill the wheelwell.
Yeah, my brake job is taking longer than expected too.
LOL. I swapped to the Scarebird setup and got all the parts together, and now I'm making more mods to what I'm getting.

eh, it doesn't look like crap it just has charactor....or at least that's what I've been told/said for years lol. I'm liking the look of the steelies though. I'd be weary about driving around without a bumper though.

I was driving through a subdivision once like that and this ranger comes around a corner at about 45mph from the opposite way, in the wrong lane. I was only going like 20mph and he locked up and got sideways in front of me just missing my front end....I was so mad even though he didn't hit me. I started to open the door to go beat some ass, but I remember I had my little sister with me who was only like 9 at the time....sorry long pointless story.

I still think you should sell me you're 428. Just kidding again. I remember when I started making progress on my 67. I finally got mine home and I started tearing into it again. So now it's sitting again, waiting for a new exhaust and panhard bar. Or maybe a nice shiny 428 from Sixt9.

after the body work is done its gonna be a dark flat grey. yup, all this time to do the body work and it wont even be shiny when its done. well, the hood is going to be a charcoal grey thats glossy, but the rest of the car will be flat. hey, it sounds good to me. id be happy to just have the car pretty much one color agai..... for once.

and more!

put new mufflers on it this week. 80 Series Flowmasters with the inlet/outlet on the same side so i can get rid of the dumps. its a hell of alot quieter, but still sounds good. it doesnt vibrate like hell inside anymore so thats a plus. ill take a vid in a few days.
