Re: Window mechanism repair?
I was able to salvage mine in my '63. The channel that the window sits in had rusted enough that the track that the rollers go in just fell off. I used an angle grinder to find solid metal near the edges of the track, and TIG welded it back on. After scraping all the rust out, I sealed it with a rubberized coating before putting the glass back in. Worked great, and no cost!
While I was in there I found that there is a little cover that holds the gear for the little corner windows. I saw it sitting inside in the door and felt around to figure out where it came from. I removed the mechanism, and cleaned out all the old crusted grease. Then I drilled out the "rivets" that the factory used, all the way through the casting, and tapped holes for stainless screws. Greased it all back up, and they are smooth as, well, glass!
Hope that helps!
