Re: After 12 yrs Finally Got the Quarter on

Hey you're right, it can still be a banana!

Only one person said i should paint it, one other went the opposite way but they race super stock so all for anything race related. She said they could get me a big vinyl decal for the driver's door #27 in yellow so that way I have something on each side. I'd have to think about that one! Who knows.

Very rare to see a NASCAR Right Rear Quarter from that era without a "Darlington Stripe" Deb!!

Deb your still moving faster than me. I bought every piece of exterior trim I could get for my 67 in 1973 and it's still laying in the back seat. I must just be waiting for the price of paint to go up some more.

Re: After 12 yrs Finally Got the Quarter on

Ben's car almost got a similar crunch last week, 17 yr old was backing his expedition away from the garage to get the tractors out, didnt see the gal sitting beside him(didnt even look) cut the wheel started backing... i literally screamed and luckily he heard me- stopped with about 1/2" from the back of the rear door(and quarter that i just painted 2 wks ago)...jeez

gotta get that kid out driving more, been lucky with the 20 yr old, the 18 yr old though has already took out a garage door, door fender on his ranger(that was a run off the snowy road issue though- he shoulda been driving a bit slower, but dashcam showed a car ran him off the edge into the snow)...but the 17 yr old...ugh. he wants to sit head back on headrest, one hand on wheel, looks drunk/half asleep- constantly getting after him for posture, he wants to barely glance at mirrors, wont turn his head- i'm pretty patient, but oh how it pisses me off riding with him...every 30 seconds its 'sit up' watch-watch-watch...know i'm frustrating him too, but hes a accident waiting to happen and it scares the heck out of me...

Re: After 12 yrs Finally Got the Quarter on

I've moved a few times since things have been off and can't find them! The XL emblem for the speaker grill in the back seat that flew off when i got hit used to sit on a nicnac shelf and i saw it not long ago but don't know where and forgot to put it back on last time i had the interior out, now i can't find it. Just had both rear ashtrays now I have one complete one but can only find the trim ring for other which i found looking for something else I couldn't find! Only good part bout those is it's the last piece that goes in the back seat and hoping i find it. I thought both were in the trunk as I JUST had them both in my hand about a month ago! lol

Don't worry, the prices keep going up so you'll be ready when it's high enough for you! Then you can say "well, my paint cost X amount! when the other guy says he paid a really low price!" Saw that between 2 vette guys who had almost identical tires and wheels. Didn't care for the one guy and he was the one that seemed to say i paid more for mine which makes it the better wheels. lol

Re: After 12 yrs Finally Got the Quarter on

I've thought of her more than a couple times recently with this piece! Some in the old yahoo group sent money to buy parts and also are now gone. Then i stop and think that maybe i'm lucky I wasn't gone before it got done!!

Re: After 12 yrs Finally Got the Quarter on

I can't believe they are that old already!! You got lucky it seems with the first 2! Now you have to get the "cool" one to pay attention. Now that the quarter is on there I'm having paranoia attacks just knowing after all this time someone is going to ram me! 3 hrs after i got the door on someone almost hit me in the same door, luckily i stopped in time! Sure happy I don't ever want the whole car painted I'd really be doomed!

Cliff did ask if i was ever going to get it all painted and I told him NOPE. So then he says well that means we can get the top on then. Must be nice to be young and ambitious! I don't know his age but want to say somewhere in his 40s. I don't think I had that ambition in my 40s either! So now i need to order the tension cables and order different top pads as now they have the ones with the corner section that i originally would need to make.

Being that there seems to always be a domino effect, my windshield is now leaking. But i did spin the tires for the first time in a 100 yrs and was moving 25mph before i stepped on it! Granted there was sand on the pavement but it wouldn't of done that before. We were trying out an edelbrock as my 4100 needs a kit and the rear butterflies are sticking, from lack of use i'm sure! Shocked the heck out of me that it did that though, it was never that easy it was only a power braking type thing.

My doors are both working well and because the driver door, i found out, only latched the first latch forever i now hear the SHUT THE DOOR! cause i just let it fall shut and it is the first latch. Somebody I knew told me some guy walked by my car and opened and shut the door. Told him oh that was cliff, now i'm in trouble again for not shutting that door all the way again! Even the trunk lid i almost slam sometimes cause i forget how easy it's shutting!! Like a new car!!!
