Re: What colour is brake light wire?

The loom you are holding I see wires that go to both rear turn/stop lights, backup lights and a ground wire. The brake light circuit is a green wire from the fuse box, runs to the stop light switch then back into the turn signal switch. When you step on the brakes the power goes thu the brake light switch into the turn signal switch and the turn signal switch sends power to both rear lights. Green w/a blue and orange w/a blue. What are you trying to fix?

Re: What colour is brake light wire?

At the stop light switch check to see which one has power all the time. The other one is the one going to the turn signal switch. That is the one you need to splice into for your new brake light. You will need to run a new wire to the new brake light.

I believe your brake lamp switch is on the master cylinder and operates under brake pedal hydraulic pressure if I'm not mistaken.

The switch is on the master cylinder under the hood. It's the round thing with the two wires going to it.

Re: What colour is brake light wire?

Just curious, where do you live that they would make you retrofit a third brake light?

has anyone got a photo of the wires please?

How do they get to the back of the car? I don't seem to have any spare wires in the engine bay.

thanks

Do you know where the master cylinder is? The switch is on it and two wires are on it. No loose wires or spares. You will have to run an additional wire from the wire on the master cylinder to your added stop light otherwise the it will flash with your turn signals if it is hooked to the stop light wires that run to the rear lights.

Re: What colour is brake light wire?

If this will help, it's a picture of the non-power single bowl brake master cylinder. At the front of it is a biscuit shaped hydraulic brake presssure stop light switch which screws into the master cylinder and has two "L" shaped rubber coated connectors whose wires go inside and connect to the turn signal switch (red with black trace) and the flasher unit (red). This picture is not of a Galaxie, it's of a '66 F100 pickup as I started disassembling it a few years ago, but it should be similar. The brake system in my Galaxie has been upgrade and no longer bears any resemblence to stock.

yes thanks I do know what it looks like.

My issues appear to be that it has a non factory master cylinder and I can't see any wires in my loom that would attach to it.
Also the car is offsite and I live on the other side of the world.
