Re: 63 Galaxie - Some questions

From past readings on the forum I seem to recall that these FE's benefit greatly from opening up the exhaust and getting a proper advance curve in the distributor. If you do the intake and carb, get rid of the stock exhaust manifolds, too. Header fitment is always the issue, so search the forum for past experiences, as you likely will not find many direct header applications.

The primer is on there good. This is the result of multiple layers of stripper and power washing. I think I might just sand it all off and try to polish the chrome afterwards.

It was bumped on the drivers side and is bent a little bit. Either way, it looked like garbage painted so if it somehow looks worse without paint I'll just repaint it a better color until I can find a good bumper.

Speaking of headers, has anybody found a set that are actually direct fit on the fe in these cars. I would love to put a set on my 390 without having to modify them.

Re: 63 Galaxie - Some questions

Would an Autolite 4100 4 barrel just swap in place of the 2 barrel, with the steel lines and everything?

Gave it a full ignition tuneup. I really wonder when this was last done, the plug wires looked really old, no markings on them.

Re: 63 Galaxie - Some questions

those plugs are barely worn, looks like it's been running ok. you need a 4 bbl manifold if you want a 4bbl carb

Headers: Ford Powertrain Applications
Have these in my vert, had to trim about a 1/4" from the upper control arm mount, but other that that they fit fine with the stock starter.

Thanks

They Fit excellent AND cleared the clutch mechanisms. Also had to trim the back upper A frame support a little bit. but put them in on drivers side without moving anything, Pass side had to lift engine about 2". Stainless is also available, Nice Thick flanges, NO LEAKS, had Muffler shop build the rest of the exhaust. would I use them again,....youbetcha!
