Well sir, I actually get to San Fran 2X a month and stay at the Hilton Financial District or Hilton Union Square -- Trump Kool Aid aside, that place is a verified disgusting-needle-infested-feces in the middle of the sidewalk panhandling freekshow. Enjoy your home town, a true aberration.

Re: Will a fan shroud help reduce temps?

Agreed.

Wish I could post some progress pics but I ordered the wrong size fan so that will have to wait another couple days. I did get the Craig Davies control unit installed so that's something

Sorry that happened to ya Yes, I try to make a concerted effort to check in here frequently --mainly to see how you're coming along. It's winter out, nothing much really going on..... so I say why not do some vicarious cooling fan mods, lol.

next time you come to san francisco..broaden your horizon ... see other parts of the city were the 95% San Franciscans actually live not the business/tourist trap district...

you will find its a pretty nice city over all.....
maybe not perfect like Chesapeake, VA...

what you are describing you will find in any major city across this country
really dont know why you feel the need to attacking and thrashing area of where i live in....
it does nothing to help original poster setting up cooling fans...

not saying there's anything wrong with your fan setup if it works, thats all that matters..

not every ones situation is same.. not all engines are the same...

i don't know anything about MEL motors,

but with the FE's this subject comes up constantly and a lot, over and over again for one reason or another ..
just seems to be a common problem for FE owners...

so in all fairness to original poster,

so let's leave this discussion to it's intended subject...
thats all im gonna say on this....

Thank you to all who posted relevant information within this thread, it was very helpful to me. I very much appreciated the positive posts and all the ideas offered up.

I have my new Derale fan mounted and it's doing the job as intended.

Sweet!

In high school I had an old black gentleman for a chemistry teacher, of the many cool things he taught us NOT to mix together (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) he told us two things that have stuck to me to this day: "The only thing that should keep you from learning something new everyday is the tombstone above your head" and "It's a cold world out there children, be sure to take a big enough coat with you on your journey thru life".

Re: Will a fan shroud help reduce temps?

Sorry for the late response, I ended up using Derale electric fan part # 16823 and Davies Craig control unit. It's working well so far, fingers crossed....
