66 long tube headers

Has anyone run hooked super comp headers or a similar long tube? I want the mid range power benefits that long tubes offer over shortys. Thanks

Re: 66 long tube headers

I put a set of Hooker long tube headers on the otherwise dead stock 428 in my 66 LTD. This gave was a substantial gain in low and mid range torque compared to the old log manifolds.

Re: 66 long tube headers

Standard starter, the passenger side has plenty of clearance. The drivers side is tight around the power steering box, but clears. I since changed my steering box to a Borgeson power box, and had give the closest pipe a few good whacks to clearance it. Otherwise, they fit fine.

Re: 66 long tube headers

I've got them on my 66 with the stock starter. Tight fit but they go on nice. Had to hammer where the steering gear was, other than that they went right in.
