Opinions on frame please

Hello,

Been a while since I've posted. I am starting on a '66 galaxie 500 XL. It was hit and a donor frame and body are going to be used. The question I would like to pose is even though the frame is tweak-a-lated in the back and front is it worth trying to sell or give away as it is a south western frame and relatively free of corrosion?

Or is it just best to slice it up and scrap it?

Here are the pictures for consideration.

Poor thing was pounded pretty hard in the back.

Did a number on the body as well.

Rippled the quarter panel and sail panel.

The whole body on the passenger side is pushed and twisted up. This body jig is accurate to 1/16" of an inch.

The whole trunk floor is pushed up on this side.

The chassis was stripped today as I need the coil springs (selected for the weight of the XL interior, FE, C6 and factory air con), heavy duty (large bearing) 9 inch and FE mounts. Everything else is just spares.

It looks like the rear damage was confined to this area in the back.

The front damage looks like a side impact as the radiator support and bumper frame extrusions are bent to the drivers side slightly.

What do you think worth selling, giving it away or just scrap it?

Cheers

Hello 7 Litre,

Well it seems it's a problem with browsers and forums. This forum loads as HTTPS, so your browser switches to a secure access. This forum points to a location for the pictures I posted, which is a HTTP website with no security certificate and some browsers once in HTTPS mode will not load pictures from a HTTP website. Some browsers will. On the flip side, this forum doesn't load the pictures and then transmit them in HTTPS format.

Here's a link I posted to the other Ford forum where their website loads and re-transmits them. I think the pictures will come through on any browser.

Re: Opinions on frame please

Yeah that works, thanks. I'm new to the Galaxie forums and didn't even know that one existed. Anyway I'd hate to see it scrapped out (as they don't make them anymore). But it's hard for me to throw away anything (just ask my wife). My vote is to keep it.............

Strange, I don't see the pics, either. I'm showing just a question mark in a blue square. I can't remember that happening to me on this forum before.

Re: Opinions on frame please

Thank you 7 Litre for your input. I posted the frame for free under the classifieds. I just don't have room and we're trying to clean the yard up and get rid of excess parts and cars. I still have a complete spare bare rolling '66 2 door hardtop with a solid straight frame and another solid straight 1966 bare frame.

I hate to see it go to waste, especially as I had to get rid of my very first car (1968 galaxie fastback) due to frame corrosion and the rear axle tried to depart. Violently. Even 25 years ago I couldn't find a frame for the 3rd generation in the Midwest. Would have loved to even had this bent frame all those years ago.

Cheers
