1963 generator to alternator swap

Ran a search for any posts on this subject but found none.
I have several different schematics for wiring on 63 ford and have a download for a swap but it is an alternator with internal regulator which is not my case. I have a basic 60 amp alt with external regulator.
Can anyone give me a hit on where I can download a swap for my 63 Galaxie? Also do I need a newer regulator? The only download I have with the external regulator is showing a 4 post regulator. Thanks, Bud

I wrote a tutorial to use a 3G alternator that is internally regulated. Search for threads by me and you should find it.

A lot of it should apply to you as far as bracketry if you want to use the earlier external regulator type.

Yes, you need a different "4-post" regulator. Get a fully electronic one.

This link summarizes the wiring including keeping your "generator" light operational.

Hey, that's a pretty cool diagram. I think you could do the whole thing with just the one additional wire for the stator. Seems like the yellow/black wire, the red wire to the solenoid and the wire to the horns, etc. could all just be moved to the A+ terminal at the regulator end (since they are all already there). I don't see a need for the junction block. But not having seen the regulator, maybe it's more "compact" and there isn't much room between the terminals? I would go that route if possible, though, since it's cleaner.

Edit: Ah, I get it - the new regulators have slide on terminals, not screws.

I did an alternator swap back in 2015 on my Gal, didn't need anything hi-output or fancy, and as such I happened upon this listing in the Galaxie club's site:

I went with a 60a alternator and that 'trans po" type regulator set up you see if you scroll down a bit on the Galaxie club's web page.

I followed the info provided by 4speedjeremy when I did my conversion recently and have been very happy with the results. It's easy mechanically and electrically so fear not and jump in with both feet!

I have lots of schematics now to help me with this conversion from a generator to a 1G alternator. My wiring harness that runs from the generator to the old regulator is still in great condition and i will just add the new stator wire to it and rewrap the harness. 2 questions for you guys, is the capacitor the same as the condenser used in the old point type distributors, and where can I order a 12V terminal block to connect my old wiring to so I can use the new slip on terminals on the new regulator? I don't want to use a 3G alternator for this project so please bear with me and offer me any help you may see that maybe I don't. Thanks, Bud

terminal block doesn't care about voltage. any will do. i think the point condenser is 47 microfarads. don't know about the noise suppresser cap.

I just used my old regulator as a terminal block, but a quick peek online shows a nice one like this:

Maybe you have a local electronics supply house nearby ?

On the radio suppressor, I left mine off and have no noise....using an original am/fm radio.

I see lotsa repop suppressors from the Mustang suppliers, etc, for $25 ish, ...so maybe something local again, for less $$ might be available for ya --even non-Ford I would think ?

I also think I might forget about the capacitor until I see how noisy the radio gets, and I went to my local Auto Zone today for some spray paint and VIOLA I found a terminal block that will work. A little longer than I wanted (8terminals) but it will be hidden by the horns anyway.
Now if I can get my front and rear seats back from the upholsterer, and finish putting in my carpeting I may get a little cruz'n done before it gets cold.
