Transmission Swap

I've done an engine swap installing my 351c
I've installed the Ford 4R70W transmission
I have a controller.
But I'm looking to keep the stock steering

column shifter. Has anyone done this type of
swap.
I've been looking at pictures from the crown Vic
years 97 - ? it shows the actual control arm
connection very high up on the column.
the 62 my car is way down below the floor level
btw its a 62 Ford Wagon...
the 4r70w is a cable actuated (I guess i could build
a rod link system) but I'd like to keep the cable
its so easy..
Any assistance..
Best
Dave

Re: Transmission Swap

I did this on my '66. I'll look for or take some fresh pictures. Off the top of my head, I used mostly the original linkage. Lengthening one of the rods and drilling a larger hole in the 4R70W shift arm to accept the rod instead of the cable link. What year is your car?

Re: Transmission Swap

Here are some pictures of what I came up with using the original shift mechanism and adapting it to what the 4R70W had. Lengthened the shift rod and enlarged the hole in 4R70W shift arm.
