I’m seriously contemplating painting My66 next spring, and want some input on those who have painted theirs at home . I plan on painting it in my shop doing the drop cloth and box fan filter
I have a standard 20 upright air compressor

The fire department has a lot to say about painting in anything other than a paint booth, and yes you can go to jaiĺ for it depending on there addatude. I saw it happen once a neighbor of a relative was spraying in his garage, the fire department showed up and demanded that he stop, he had the last cote to finish and just started spraying the last cote. The cops hauled him off. I don't know what the final consequence was but it cost him $500 to get out of jail.

Hello,

In an effort to cut down on the paint cloud leaving your paint area, you may wish to consider a turbine sprayer system. Last year I bought one and it's a night and day difference between a standard air compressor driven paint sprayer, even if it's a more expensive HVLP gun.

I spray around 4.5 PSI for the regular primer and colour coat. Then around 7 PSI for the clear and any feather fill earlier in the process. At 4.5 PSI there is practically no over spray. At 7 PSI on the clear there's a bit of a cloud generated, but nothing as bad as std spray gun even at 25 PSI.

Plus you save a lot on your material, and that alone adds up really quick.

Another benefit with a turbine system is you do not have to worry about desiccant snakes (or in line dehumidifiers), oil or particle contamination from hoses.

Just a thought.
