I've got to get better tools, the cheap crap ain't working!
What the word on a decent brake flaring tool set, kit that cost less than this "Flare Pro 4 in 1 Flaring and Swaging Tool"... damn near $unobtainium kit I found on Eastwood? I'm tring to not be as cheap as I know I am, but its hard to let go of that kind of money for something I use once every few years. Yes, I know that if I get it, I'll likely find more reasons to use it, but it's still hard to raid the kids college fund for non-power tools.
I've had mixed sucess with the $ 19.95
harbor freight, coast, auto zone red box specials. You get 2 - maybe - 3 good flares,.... then realize I forgot to put on the fitting, or cut it too short...after enough frustration, the kit collects dust for a year or so, before disappearing in the alternate universe of dark spaces in the garage by the next time you go looking for it.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think they are hidding in the same place where missing socks from the dryer hide out.
....Any recommendations for something that will last, will work and maybe keep me sane? It's hot out where I live and my temper is climbing too. One more hot day, another screwwed up flare fitting and I'm taking out "the list". Then moving up to the high country when I'm done...
I haven't read any stories about postal workers in a while. 'Tis the season....
jus' teasing, except about the tool set. So's you'll know...don't want any SWAT team riding in black helicopters, dropping from the sky or landing in the front yard.
