Timing is adjusted to 8 degrees btdc. I reinstalled the stock carb today and the innards of the carb were adjusted to stock spec with the rebuild kit. Other than that I adjusted idle speed and mix by ear.

You need a 4 row and 3000 cfm of air to stay cool in the summer heat.

13 lb cap is good. Strange that it should cool it. After all it came that way. Only thing I can think of is a blockage in the rad.

So I guess a bigger rad is the next step? Hard to believe that the stock equipment doesn't do the job anymore. Is the configuration of a 460 radiator's hose inlet and outlet anywhere near a small blocks? Is it worth the monkeying around to make it work?

don't feel bad I FEEL YOUR PAIN i have a 67 galaxy 460 doing the same thing I have seen this and heard this issue on 289 351c 429 460 545
my build is new also still getting hot 220 to 240 I am stumped as well...........


new aluminum heads
gaskets are on correctly I tore it down to check
fel-1231 intake gaskets scj
6al ignition
msd 3 step retard billit dist locked at 36
comp cam set straight up
true tdc at the piston
I have used a 160,180,190, blue rest and a gold
I used a northern 4 core a be cool 4 core now a frostbite down flow 4 core
I used a tarus 16" fan, I used two 12" haydens now I have perma cool 3500 x2 fans with matching shroud
open exhaust
fpa headers
roller rockers
bushed 9:8:1 pistons
dual fitech fuel injection afr set 12:5:1
8.8 wires
colder plugs
I used anti freeze and now on straight water with water wetter
I added a pusher fan it hurt more than it helped
it is boosted I went from 12 psi to 6 psi
I am ready to put a small block cheby next to it and scare it straight I am at a lose too and there are allot of peeps having the same issue the one who figures it out gets a cookie and 15 extra minutes at recess

Have you tried running the car with out the hood on it?
