Hi, is the 5.0 HO motor in a 1992 T-bird exactly the same as the mustang 5.0 HO motors? And what about the automatic transmission and all the wiring? I want to swap the whole engine and transmission into a fox body.
I recently installed 5.0 and aod from a 93 T-bird into a V8
91 LX and I had to change most everything on the front of the engine. In fact, you may as well start with the bare long block and go from there. Also the selector shaft on the aod had to be changed.
A royal pain.
The 5.0 installation in the 91 - 93 T-Bird / Cougar is similar to the 94 - 95 Mustang, as far as intake, throttle body, timing cover, water pump, etc.
You would be better off to sell the complete package to someone looking to swap a 5.0L into an 89 - 97 Bird / Cougar, and get a Fox body Mustang or Lincoln Mark VII as your donour vehicle. If you know the longblock from the T-Bird is good, keep it, sell all the external parts for someone doing a T-Bird V8 swap, and get Fox external components for your swap.
cheers
Ed N.
