Re: 1968 f100 style side progress

painted a perfect condition steering wheel i found in my dads garage, except it was red. it was one he bought years ago for the 64 f100.

fits perfectly

better then what came on it when i bought it.
before :zz:

after

i think it looks better too.

i also sanded primed and painted the passenger inner fender.
before

after

i also painted and installed the radiator to the new core support. its fits ok minus one bent area i will need to muscle into place.

see the how the radiator sits forward on one side? the core isn't tweaked, thank God. each side matched up evenly. its just that one top mount.

oh and i wired up my distributor, im using my old coil for now so i wired it up so that when i buy a MSD i can splice her in easy.

WRONG !!! I've been following this thread since the beginning, sorry to here about the accident. Love your truck, I'm a big fan of the pre 80's pickups. I'm mostly a reader not a poster, keep up the good work and don't fret we are watching your progress...... Jim

I like the thread. Makes me wish I hadn't sold mine. Things are looking good on yours. I'm curious as to what kind of paint your using?

Re: 1968 f100 style side progress

Ok so this weekend i got some stuff done. i sanded and painted the driverside inner fender and installed the pasanger side fender.

starting to look like a truck again.

i installed the new/remand f350 booster and f100 disc/drum MC.

i also got the headers installed. it was a bit snug on the driverside. i see now why a lot of you guys that have big blocks use the stock manifolds lol

look what i found in my garage in a box, if it aint broke dont fix it. but..... its so shiney and new

the pics don't give it justice, in person you can see the difference
i like it :hd:

Re: 1968 f100 style side progress

the new battery tray came in today finally. i loosely installed it since the i do not have the whole front end on. she looks nice. i noticed how 'not' shiny the paint i used is my inner fenders is, compared to the battery tray paint. lol its too shiny for an under the hood part. or maybe im just not one of 'those' classic truck owner types

Re: 1968 f100 style side progress

well not much of an update but i installed a lower radiator hose the choke and brake booster hose.

i also painted the hood hinges, and installed one. (i still have a few things that i still need to install on the driverside)

i also sanded, painted and installed the upper valance. it came off a early 70s truck. not super nice but a decent used part.

next is the lower valance (is $45 too much to pay for a used lower valance in decent/good shape?) which i hope to buy from this guy a few towns over this week sometime.
then install the valance and prep the fenders for paint.

i found a decent 67 steel grille from a different guy a few towns over and MAAAAN hes weird. i almost dont want to meet up with him. but the price is right on the grille. $80
then once all the the parts are painted and on. i hope to get the engine running after i fill the radiator and change the oil and add some fluid to the C4 and power steering.
wish me luck

Re: 1968 f100 style side progress

I think 45 is cheap for a good valance, especially if it has the end pieces where it meets the fender (I say that because I think I paid 100 and mine wasn't great)

Looking good!
