Re: 1968 f100 style side progress

Welp, some updates. i have the brakes done ready for a test drive.

Heres a pic where im splicing in some line for now to get the brakes going.

and here it is done. not my best work but all the brake bleeding went well with zero leaks

I aslo picked up a lower valance in so so shape. its has 2 creases that im going to try and smooth out. i plan on finding another down the road. but for now this one will do just fine

next ill be installing the rest of the fenders, and get the engine started.

Thanks for the update and photos, I've been following since the wreck. You're doing a great job getting it back together. As I said before I really like that truck.

Looks like you just put bolt thru / into speed nut/clip on backside of valance.

Re: 1968 f100 style side progress

Not much to post. ive been tinkering around tying up odds and ends on the truck.

I got to work on the lower valance a bit, i got it cheap cause it has a bend/crease in it. i didnt do too much to straighten only because i was working on it at night. couldn't make too much noise. but i think once i get her done she will straighten out well enough.

I slapped her on the truck to see how well she lines up.

Here is where you can tell i still need to work on it, its sits different on each frame horn. i dont want it to touch the frame horn. the pic on the bottom is the bent area.

Just for fun shes starting to look like a truck again. :hd:

Re: 1968 f100 style side progress

in case you guys are wondering why my brake line splicing is so bad. whats u see isnt final, its just till i make sure everything else works. see i will be installing a proportioning valve, up near the MC. and i want to do it right so i will be replaceing many of the brake lines on the truck at a later date.
Why not now? beacuase there are so many other things i had to do and spend money on. Also at the present time didnt have the money or the eqiupment to do it the right way.
Incase you are wondering i dont plan on driving it much till ive finished the brake job the right way.

Re: 1968 f100 style side progress

where did you buy, and what did you spend, on the brake setup?

I almost killed my friend and I, since mine just has manual brakes and all drums.....

please share.

those seats are freaking sweet. mine has mustang II seats, but theyre pretty beat. I wanted to find a nice alternative.

Re: 1968 f100 style side progress

oh man lets see if i remember correctly.

I installed a remand f350 booster and f100 disc/drum MC. the booster is a cardone reman dual diaphram booster 54-73112, $95.99 at autozone $24 core. The MC is a fenco reman front disc rear drum M1779 for $15.99 $14 core. the booster bracket i got for $20 with a bad booster i used for the core exchange.

so $96
$16
$20
---------
$132 for that set up.

the front disc twin i beam ran me $250 which came with a proportioning valve. and the new calipers were $14.99 a peice with a $5 core.

so$132
$250
$15
$15
-------
$412

so with all the odds and ends like bushing and such lets say its close to
$500 for the entire brake upgrade.

so how did u guys almost die? lol your manua brakes are that bad? a booster will solve that for sure.

i know i got lucky really, long story but the guy i bought them from was asking $250, it was on craigslist for while which was shocking so i offered him $100 which he declined at first. he asked me what i was putting it in. after i told him my 68 f100 he said he has been following my build thread. he told me his seats would look great in my truck. i agreed lol he said hed take the $100. i was shocked. they were even nicer in person. i gave him a T5 bellhousing i had and told him to try and sell it to make up some of the difference. pretty cool, super nice guy.

Re: 1968 f100 style side progress

Thanks for the update and price list. I got a donor setup, but I think everything will have to be used as a core. I paid the same, $250.

any updates on your project?
