Re: 66 Street/Strip Fairlane Restoration

New tunnel plate, it is removable for trans access. The floor shifter (Crites part) is visible in the background

Hole for new wiring routing to not be visible from under the hood

Revised visor mount, old one was not accessible due to the cage

Lonely waiting for final body work then primer. Unfortunately because of the cold weather the primer will have to cure for 2 weeks before final blocking and paint.

Re: 66 Street/Strip Fairlane Restoration

I will be running the same 351C set up that came out, just freshening the short block as the heads were done when I switched to a roller cam. Just picked up the block and need to clean it and reassemble.

QUESTION- how do you guys clean a block fresh from the machine shop?

Planning to scrub with brushes and hot soapy water then oil down surfaces.

Re: 66 Street/Strip Fairlane Restoration

Here are a few shots of the seats coming together. I have added some side bolsters to them. Thought is with the modern front suspension it will reduce sliding across the seats on corners. Also did away with the cotton backing material, all foam now.

One of the front seat backs.

Other seat back going together, you can see the bolsters.

Underside/backside reinforced. The front bench seated height has been reduced about 1.5", will give a little more head/helmet room and a less bouncy feel.

Body panels back on for fitment

They should have it done at the end of March, so far so good.

Got the "new" block back from the machine shop, let the assembly commence! (I have a cool timelapse video I will post when the engine build is done)

Re: 66 Street/Strip Fairlane Restoration

In primer, waiting for it to dry for about 2 weeks then paint. In the meantime the interior will get paint.
