New R code project in the works

Just purchased a 66 fastback with plans to build an R code Shelby tribute. I want to build the motor to take advantage of modern build techniques while maintaining the appearance of the original Shelby motor so I'll build a stroker with the original Holley/Shelby Hi-rise intake and tri-Y headers but what about heads. I know aluminum heads are a no brainer from a power standpoint but what options do I have to maintain a more original appearance? Port the originals? GT40? Does anyone make an aluminum head that would look somewhat original if it was painted Ford blue?

World products Windsor Jr. are cast iron, have 180 cc intake ports and would perform pretty well on a built 289. I would shoot for those. Here's the link: Erson-PBM-World-B2C | Small Block Ford

Re: New R code project in the works

I had been checking out their products. Why wouldn't I go for the Windsor Sr for the bigger valves and, I assume higher flow for the stroker motor?

If you want cast iron it looks like the way to go. I personally know nothing about them so if you go this way post results. 🙂
