Skyline Drive in Canon City Colorado

took the family cross country in two mustangs, nice scenery out here...1500 miles from home, two oldest sons helped drive- the first vacation they've drove - in a mustang, in the mountains...yeah theyre diggin it

went back to 17s on mine with big fat Nitto 450 rubber, the care rides GREAT compared to the 18's I'd put on a couple yrs ago... firmer than the wifes V6 of course, but great highway car now- the 18" wheels/tires I took off handled nice and tight, but rode like a skateboard compared to now... hopefully a couple thousand more troublefree miles in the coming days- never know, but so far so good

Re: Skyline Drive in Canon City Colorado

past Pagosa springs today, 160 is a beautiful highway! (at least until a hour past Pagosa- then its like I70 was thru Kansas 20 yrs ago-sucks for hours, then some neat desert views, heading towards monument valley)

lonnnnnng drive today, bad scheduling on my part, too wired on coffee to sleep even after 20 hrs of driving/sightseeing...everyone else is out, they had some driving breaks, i had about a half hour...

couple pics at Wolf Creek Pass and outside the tunnel...AWESOME road to drive

Re: Skyline Drive in Canon City Colorado

Another lonnnng drive back to Colorado from Grand Canyon today, worked out kinda cool- massive looking storm in northern New Mexico, split the sky from clear/sunny to near black- we were driving towards the black...there was a small break in the storm, wouldnt you know we followed it and only had a few minutes of light rain... got some neat pics with the sky at rest area, and said- when the sun dips under the clouds theres gotta be a rainbow somewhere... a hour later, pulled into a 'town' in the middle of nowhere Southern Colorado, found a pulloff, got out of the car to watch if we might catch a rainbow before sunset- soon as we got out of the car it was there! great end to a beautiful day!

Re: Skyline Drive in Canon City Colorado

5000 miles/two cars, only problem was picked up a nail in Ohio(had a plug kit) and my motor boiled over a little after shutting off after going over one of the mountain passes... heat soaked, guess shoulda let it idle a while before shutdown, only time its ever let off any steam...
good to be home, but was a very memorable trip!
