Re: Mustang II rear defrost window

remove the truim around the glass. flip over place a blanket below the glass. one on top of the glass. raise the hatch 4 inches off the ground take a 5 gallon bucket fill with water about 20 minutes later the sun will soften the bondo seal and drop away from the hatch.DONE.

Re: Mustang II rear defrost window

The hatch with the rear defrost window is in really poor shape.. The one I have on my car is in a lot better shape. I'd rather not take it out of the original hatch but it's rusting away and the one I have would be a whole lot less costly to repair.

Re: Mustang II rear defrost window

What shape is the hatch in? The Mustang II hatch had special studs welded to it for the rear defog wires only when it had rear defog. It might be better to swap the entire hatch. if not see if you can get a glass place or body shop to remove the glass for you. the rear window is MUCH tougher that the windshield and heavy. The wiring isn't too hard. You'll need the heater controls out of the car and all the wiring front to rear the wire going to the passenger side is just a ground under the rear panel. The other side goes to the front of the car to a relay above the heater controls. In the pieces of plastic held by the 3 acorn nuts on the hatch are "bullet" connectors that will unplug the glass for the car wiring. If you need any more info let me know but that should help.

Mustang II rear defrost window

Heya guys, I came acrossed a guy selling a Mustang II Cobra II with the rear defrost window. I want to put it in my 76 Mustang II but I am worried about HOW I can actually accomplish something like this... I don't know anything about how I would get the old window out and put the new one in? My 76 doesn't have the rear defrost so I wasn't sure how the wiring for the rear defrost would go into my trunk lid and how I would SAFELY get the rear defrost window out of the Cobra IIs trunk lid... I've been searching high and low for the rear defrost option and it's pretty rare in the Mustang IIs from what I have seen... so I don't want to crack or break it. The last rear defrost window I saw on Ebay went for over 700... I'm getting the whole 302 Cobra II for 400!
