Re: World Products Winsdor Porting Anyone?

for your setup i wouldnt bother with any serious port work. perhaps remove some material from the bowls, and perhaps the port entries with maybe some exhaust work and a slight polish and thats it. nice flowing head works well on the street.

Re: World Products Winsdor Porting Anyone?

I've had mine for a long time. Many of the new heads you can get now were not even around back when I bought them. There are a few I would like to try now days like the Kaase p38 heads. They are probably pricey though. I prefer iron heads to beer cans so I would like to try the Ford N heads but what I have is still outrunning the rest of my rig and will most likely continue to do so. They are 64 cc though and I need around 50. The Victor Jr heads look pretty good for the price too(60 cc though).

I just pulled my heads and am doing some supplemental work on them right now. I plan to have them angle milled, a 5 angle freshen up, replace the valve springs. After studying and mic'ing the heads I decided to do some more port work on the exhaust side. After several years of hard running I wasn't sure what I was going to find in there but the heads still look great, valves look great, rockers, everything.

At one time there was a bad problem with casting core shift on these heads. If you get some used ones you need to somehow make sure they are not in the serial number range of the ones that were a problem.

Paul: It's a 351w flat top 10.2:1 CR, PP Typhoon high raise, dual plane manifold, Holley 4010 600 CFM vac sec carb, Cam Research custom grind .490/.490, 218/224 cam (changing to a Lunati grind later), Hooker Comp headers. Car is a '70 Mustang c4 w/ 2500 stall converter, 3.25 gear. Street car only. Heads are out of the box Windsor Jr's, gasket matched intakes only.

Thanks for you input Hottarod. I also did a thread search and came up with some additional info. I'm just not sure if I want to invest another $500 into them.

What kind of engine (cu", mods?) are you using and what kind of application?

Re: World Products Winsdor Porting Anyone?

I run home ported iron Windsor Jr's. My car has run a best 11.72 at 115 with those heads on a 289. I got them bare and had my machine shop install my personal choice of valves. I didn't have to work the heads really hard and I didn't spend a lot of time polishing either.

World Products Winsdor Porting Anyone?

Has anyone done or had done any porting work on World Products Windsor Jr iron heads? And if so, was the investment worth it? How much work did it take to make an appreciable difference?
