Re: Lets show off the thunderbird we have

I wrote up the EFI story here: Ford Muscle Forums : Ford Muscle Cars Tech Forum - View Single Post - My experience with EFI on the FE

The other piece of the puzzle is vapor recovery for the gas tank. I should do a write-up on that as well.

Back when these cars were new a detached garage was the norm. Very few were attached to the house, and I don't recall ever seeing a basement garage. These car polluted more sitting in the garage than a modern car does cruising down the highway.

The earliest emission controls eliminated the direct atmospheric vent from the carburetor (which the '64 had). The next step was to vent the gas tank through a carbon canister.

Wow, I never had driven a thunderbird, but it's an amazing ride. I'm thinking of selling my lease at DSRLeasing now, getting either a project or looking for a nice Thunderbird - both in ideal scenario

How did the EFI install go? I see a new manifold. I have a virtually identical '64...and it smells gassy.

My '64 that I've owned 30 years, restored it finally. It started out as an embarrassing NYC rust bucket, well used and abused. Now she's all clean, EFI and doesn't stink in my basement garage.

I sold the car, but I still have these 16" rims.

If you live in the north Jersey area and are interested, PM me.

I will only hold on to them for so long before they just become "garage clutter".

Too expensive to ship.
