Re: 221 Windsor headers

so, would the Dougs Headers with the 2.5 collector not be appropriate for the stock 221? I was planning on that set up on mine. I plan on driving low speed and highways often.

Re: 221 Windsor headers

I suggest going with a smaller tube header, something like 1 1/2" but no bigger than 1 5/8" to maintain low speed driveability.

You might also consider the Hipo manifolds.

Re: 221 Windsor headers

Same header will fit a 260-289-302-5.0 but it has to be a header specifically designed for the 62-65 Fairlane. There are four or five manufacturers that make them for your app.

221 Windsor headers

My '63 Fairlane has a completely stock 221 in it. I'd swap it out but the damn thing only has 67k miles on it and am having a hard time justifying that. But what I wouldn't mind doing is putting some headers on the thing and converting to dual exhaust for no other reason other than to make it sound a little better than what it sounds like.

Does anyone out there have any experience in doing that with this block? Can anyone suggest any particular parts to look at? I'm having a hard time finding any real information on parts that will work with this block to do something like that.
