1972 Ranchero Distributor Question

I have a 1972 Ranchero GT. I'm interested in switching the Points Distributor out for an Electric Distributor. Is this possible on this car?

Yes. Whether you really should, or which system you should use, depends on what you hope to accomplish with the conversion.

Re: 1972 Ranchero Distributor Question

It's hard to believe in this day and age why anyone would run points.

Absolutely switch it out. If you don't want to change out the whole disty, at least put a Pertronix kit in it.

Talking Re: 1972 Ranchero Distributor Question

Thanks guys. I went with it, and made the swap. I'll tell ya though, it was a pain! The shaft was frozen in the block. Even the mechanic I had to hire to get it out who said he had a lot of experience with these was pissed at it. XD

The truck runs much smoother now, and sounds much better than it did before.
