1966 ranchero transmission filler tube
Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I just picked up a 1966 Ranchero with the 200ci straight six. It's going to be a project, so I suspect I'll be a regular here.
I was replacing the starter the other day and I noticed that the transmission filler tube has a bracket that looks like it should fit between the starter and the mounting flange on the engine. I was trying to get the bracket lined up with the bolt hole, and the next thing I knew transmission fluid was leaking everywhere, Doh!
Anyway, my questions are: does the filler tube connect to to the starter? do you think I need a new tube, or just a new seal where the tube enters the transmission? I have the shop manual, but couldn't seem to find anything on this.
Thanks in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated.
